Eric Petry ’14 is an Economic major / Political Science minor from Worthington, OH. He has moved from examining Experiential Learning at Wooster to participating in it. Last summer, as a member of an AMRE team that defined guidelines for the College’s EL programs, Eric conducted interviews with and analyzed surveys from program directors. This past fall, however, he attended a meeting for Moot Court members where a sophomore presented on the Lilly Fellowship he completed with the Child Advocacy Center at the University of Michigan Law School. Hearing this student’s account of how he was able to positively impact a young person’s life through his outreach work with CAC led Eric to apply for an APEX Fellowship for this summer. Eric has received funding to be a “Law for the People” intern with the National Lawyers Guild in San Francisco for eight weeks, where he will gain knowledge of constitutional law and attacks on civil rights in the United States. He’s looking forward to applying what he learned about effective EL programs last summer to his own opportunity this summer.
