Originally from South Korea, physics and studio art double major, Minsung Kim ’15 hopes to attend architecture graduate school in 2018, after he has served time in the military back at home. In summer 2014, Minsung was connected to a lot of architects through Ryan Ozar, Associate Director for Internships in APEX. He had the opportunity to shadow intern architects at a firm in Akron, meet a local Wooster architect who has his own private practice and also travel to San Francisco to meet with Wooster graduate, Barbara Carlitz, an established interior designer. He is glad he had the chance to look at the practice of architecture from three very different perspectives which gave him a better idea of the path he wants to take. Through these experiences, he was able to see what architects do on a day-to-day basis, experience the process of drafting, and sit in on contractor meetings.
Kim has also been meeting weekly with Kayon Hall, Associate Director for Employer and Graduate School Relations, for career counseling and to work on graduate school applications. Kim is extremely grateful to the APEX staff, especially Ryan and Kayon, as they have helped connect him to several people in his desired career field and offered tremendous guidance and support for his future plans.
