(Aidan Conley, right, helped organize Launch’s student entrepreneurship competition)
Aidan Conley ’16 (a business economics major from Fairway, Kansas) first got involved in entrepreneurship when he heard APEX’s Director for Entrepreneurship Peter Abramo give a presentation at a meeting of the investment club. Since then, Aidan has gone on to become the treasurer of Launch, Wooster’s student entrepreneurship club, and the student coordinator of the annual Idea/Business Model Competition. The competition allows students to present their business ideas to local entrepreneurs. Winners receive seed money to begin working on their startup. Aidan’s position in Launch requires him to organize activities like discussions with local business owners and visits to startup incubators.
Aidan’s work with entrepreneurship led him to apply for an internship with Cellanyx Diagnostics, a company that is innovating new ways to approach curing prostate cancer. Aidan was accepted as an intern to help the company develop a business plan for their products. After taking a number of classes in his Business Economics major Aidan is excited to apply what he’s learned to the real world. “We learn a lot of theory in my classes and starting a business is a way to apply theory and see what works,” he said.
