Passionate about dentistry, junior biochemistry and molecular biology major Michael Andes, from Cleveland, Ohio, was set on landing an internship that would give him greater knowledge about dentistry. That’s how he ended up with an opportunity at Nepal Medical and Dental Internship in Kathmandu Nepal, made possible by APEX (Academic Planning and Experiential Learning) at The College of Wooster.
At his internship, Michael shadowed dentists, diagnosed patients and learnt what it takes to become a good dentist. After Wooster, he plans to attend dental school, so his summer experience tied into his future plans perfectly. Aside from helping with funding, “APEX helped me prepare mentally through the training sessions…specifically for the students going out of the country, and taught me how to be safe but also have a good time abroad,” said Michael.
