Spanish and psychology, the two things that senior Rachel Dietz is passionate about, were combined with the help of APEX (Academic Planning and Experiential Learning) at The College of Wooster. Rachel studied abroad in Spain last semester, and her experience highly influenced her life: she fell in love with Spain, added Spanish as a major, and couldn’t wait to go back.
Courtesy of APEX, Rachel went back over summer and worked for Dr. Enrique Rojas in his psychological clinic in Madrid. She shadowed him in office, observed consultations, evaluated psychological tests, and was able to speak both English and Spanish on a daily basis. Rachel was grateful and called the past year “a once in a life time chance” that APEX made achievable. Rachel added, “Never in my life did I think that I would have an opportunity like this, to be working with a world famous psychiatrist and to be able to take advantage of another country and culture, all at the same time. APEX has made it all possible, and for that, I am very thankful!”
